Summer Lovin’ – Our Couples Retreat Staycation at the Kerry Hotel Hong Kong

It’s officially the summer of staycations in Hong Kong! With mandatory quarantines still in place thanks to COVID-19, everyone is pretty much stuck in the city. But with incredible staycation deals available at 5 star hotels, I’d argue that we’re in one of the best places to be stuck in! Kerry Hotel Hong Kong has long been a favorite of mine to visit for their fantastic boozy brunch buffet at Big Bay Cafe, sprawling terrace at Red Sugar, and the oasis that is their infinity pool, so I was excited to take advantage of their Kerry Summer Staycation Series to finally stay for 2 nights in their gorgeous property.

While Kerry Hotel Hong Kong has a number of different staycation packages to suit different people and groups, we opted for their Couples Retreat package that includes:

• access to The Club for two people (normally HK$1,000 per night for 2 guests) – this gives you free breakfast where you choose TWO different mains to pair with a buffet of items, light refreshments throughout the day, afternoon tea with 2 hours of yummy snacks, AND happy hour with 2 hours of freeflow food and alcohol
• HK$1,000 hotel credit per night to spend at the restaurants, bars, in-room dining, or whatever you please
• a welcome bottle of Champagne in your room
• a 60-minute massage for two at The Spa (which was INCREDIBLE 💆🏻‍♀️)

Room rates start from HK$3,900 + 10% per room per night for this package but you automatically get HK$2,000 in value for the club access and hotel credit alone, not even counting the massage or champagne. In my opinion it’s incredibly worth it to stay in their spacious, harbour-facing rooms (the Premier Sea View Room is pictured) with comfy beds and 5 star service for a fun weekend “getaway.”

While alone time with your significant other is always great, we thought the staycation was even more enjoyable with a group of other couples. After all, Mike and I have seen a LOT of each other since he has also been working from home due to COVID, and I’m sure many couples out there are in the same situation, ready to spend time with other faces 😂

Even better, you can pool together your dining credits for a big group dinner over a lazy susan at Hung Tong, allowing you to try out far more of their delicious Cantonese fare than you could with just 2 people (don’t miss the deep fried crispy tofu, baked cod fish, and crispy soy chicken!). The Sunday brunch at Big Bay Cafe is also a blast when you can booze for 3.5 hours with friends, and you can share desserts since they have sooo many to choose from.

We also tried almost the entire breakfast menu in The Club since each person can choose 2 different mains, from a variety of eggs benedicts (including lobster!) to fantastic pancakes and French toast, plus Asian fare like laksa and pan fried dumplings. Everything was so good! The Club is also quite massive, so our big group was able to join another group for raucous happy hour freeflow drinks.

Kerry Hotel also houses Dockyard, a massive skylit food hall with a diverse range of affordable vendors so you can grab a cheap, easy bite during your stay. It’s also got a full bar with their own craft beer, darts (especially fun after boozy brunch), a pool table, foosball table, and the occasional live band to keep you entertained.

We had such a fun weekend relaxing, boozing, and eating our way through Kerry Hotel, and I definitely recommend taking advantage of these once-in-a-lifetime deals while COVID keeps the borders closed!
